Pumahuanca – Option 2 Waterfall

It's time to start your adventures.

Towards Pumahuanca (Urubamba):

On the slopes of the majestic Pumahuanca snow-capped mountain lies a treasure of our history: the Archaeological Site of Chupani, declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

A tourist circuit surrounded by flora and fauna, where each trail connects with the greatness of the Incas, ancient constructions, and inspiring landscapes.

Just 6 kilometers from Urubamba, this impressive archaeological site leads us to the Sicllacasa pass, with breathtaking views, crystal-clear rivers, and the magic of our living culture.

This route covers approximately 5.4 km uphill and the same distance downhill. With an estimated duration of about 2 hours and 30 minutes uphill, the trail begins at the entrance sign of the site. We will ascend along the Pumahuanca river gorge, enjoying beautiful views of the town of Maras and its vividly red-colored mountains in the distance. We will pass through forests with diverse plant species and spot a variety of birds, such as different types of hummingbirds, herons, and hawks, among others. Surrounded by nature, we will notice the changing environment as we reach the Chupani archaeological zone. We will pass through the archaeological site and continue until we reach a beautiful waterfall formed by the Pumahuanca River. From here, we can enjoy stunning views of the other valley that rises above the Chupani ruins. The landscape is adorned with enormous, imposing rocks of diverse shapes. The silence and tranquility of this area will allow us to enjoy each moment.

Upon arrival at the waterfall, a picnic will be waiting for us nearby, including fruit, granola bars, sandwiches, and both hot and cold drinks, set up with a canopy, table, and chairs.
